 संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ द्वारा निर्धारित 17 सतत विकास लक्ष्यों को पूर्ति के लिए हैदराबाद के अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन केंद्र में अक्टूबर 10 से अक्टूबर 14 तक, संयुक्त राष्ट्र विश्व भू-स्थानिक सूचना कांग्रेस (UNWGIC United Nations World Geospatial Information कांग्रेस) का आयोजन किया गया। इस सम्मलेन में भाग लेने के लिए भारती विधापीठ के इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ़ एनवायरनमेंट एजुकेशन एंड रिसर्च द्वारा देश, भर के स्कूलों को विभिन माध्यमों से  भू-स्थानिक सूचना व तकनीक के इस्तेमाल की प्रशिक्षण भी दिया और प्रदर्शन के लिए प्रोजेक्ट प्रपोजल मंगवाए। देश भर से प्राप्त प्रस्तावों को परखने के बाद,कुल 18 प्रपोजल को चुना गया,  हिमाचल से राजकीय वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक विद्यालय, कोठी देवरा जिला सोलन द्वारा विद्यालय के कंप्यूटर विज्ञानं के प्रवक्ता श्री इन्द्र  सिंह ठाकुर के नेतृत्व में विद्यालय के छात्रों ने  कृषि में हो रहे परिवर्तन पर अपना प्रोजेक्ट भेजा, जिसे इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान प्रस्तुति के चुन लिया गया। 

सोलन के कुछ ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में (मुख्य्तः जहाँ से विद्यालय में विद्यार्थी आते है), कृषि में हो रहे परिवर्तन और उसके कारणों को समझने के लिए, विद्यार्थिओं ने  भू-स्थानिक सूचना व तकनीक का इस्तेमाल कर सर्वेक्षण किया तदोपरांत भू-स्थानिक प्रौद्योगिकी का प्रयोग कर विद्यार्थिओं ने सर्वेक्षण से प्राप्त आकंड़ो का विश्लेषण किया।  विश्लेषण से प्राप्त जानकारी के आधार पर विद्यालय को 4 मिनट का एक वीडियो बनाकर सम्मलेन में प्रस्तुत करना था। विद्यालय के लगभग 22 विद्यार्थिओं ने कार्य प्रारम्भ किया जिनमे से 12  विद्यार्थिओं की एक टीम बनाई गई । कक्षा 12 की हिमांशी, आकृति, पारुल, नितिका शर्मा,  मुस्कान, कोमल, हरीश कश्यप; कक्षा 11 की जया, दिशांत, कक्षा 9 की संचिता, रितिका तथा गौरव इस टीम के सदस्य बने।  विद्यालय के प्रधानाचार्य श्री शिव प्रभाकर के मार्गदर्शन में और अन्य सभी शिक्षकों के सहयोग से यह टीम समय पर अपना कार्य पूरा किया। विद्यालय से प्रवक्ता इंद्र सिंह ठाकुर के साथ गौरव तथा दिशांत ने इस सम्मलेन  में भाग लेने के लिए चुना गया। 

सम्मलेन के दौरान UN के सांख्यिकी विभाग के अध्यक्ष श्री स्टेफेन स्च्वेनफेस्ट इस कार्यक्रम को देखने के लिए विशेष रूप से उपस्थित रहे। भारत के विज्ञानं एवं तकनिकी विभाग के अध्यक्ष डॉ देबप्रियां दत्ता तथा डॉ शुब्हा पांडेय भी इस कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित  थे और बच्चों द्वारा प्रस्तुत कार्यक्रम की सराहना की तथा पूरी टीम और स्कूल को सहभागिता का प्रमाणपत्र देकर प्रोत्साहित किया। 

पूरे भारत के 18 शहरी और ग्रामीण विद्यालयों की टीमों ने स्थानीय मुद्दों और योजना निर्माण में इसके उपयोग को समझने के लिए भू-स्थानिक सूचना व तकनीक के इस्तेमाल का प्रदर्शन किया और इसे आज दूसरे संयुक्त राष्ट्र विश्व भू-स्थानिक सूचना कांग्रेस (यूएनडब्ल्यूजीआईसी) के 'जियो-एनेबलिंग द ग्लोबल विलेज विद जेनरेशन जेड एंड अल्फा' नामक एक विशेष कार्यक्रम में कार्यान्वित किया।

Setting up mariadb or mySQL on Ubuntu/Linuxmint

This is quick blog to setup a Mariadb or Mysql in newly installed Ubuntu or any of the ubuntu based derivative such as LinuxMint (which is one of the most popular OS)

Earlier when you use to install mySQL, user was required to enter mySQL Password for root user. but in recent version there is no such prompt, and you can login to mySQL using sudo command. The problem is when you configure phpmyadmin it asks for username and password and since you have not setup the username and password you get struck. I will not get into the details of why this is happening just telling you the quick solution.
